Clear Skin for Life with Easy Home Remedy

Feeling good in your own skin is something we all want to experience in life. Pimples and acne make that very difficult for many people who just can’t seem to find a solution for problem skin. From the dreaded teenage years with puberty and raging hormones in full swing to realizing that pimples don’t automatically go away with age, it can be a grueling process to figure out how to get clear skin for life.

My journey to discovering the answer to my skin issues was a long and frustrating process that seemed like it would never end. I tried everything you could think of, read article after article online, and yet nothing gave me the results I was hoping for. Then, one lucky day (finally!) I stumbled upon a blog that was all about the health benefits of apple cider vinegar. Yes, the salad dressing condiment and sometimes cleaning solution. Please trust me on this one!

Apple cider vinegar, or ACV, has been used for centuries to improve health and cure ailments by people all over the world. It is made from fermented apples, yeast, and bacteria that is broken down to create alcohol which then turns into the magical potion apple cider vinegar. The acidity of the vinegar is what makes ACV so amazing. It has antifungal, antibacterial AND anti-inflammatory properties. There are some scientific studies to back up the health claims of ACV, but there are still questions as to how effective it is for curing the long list of ailments that many people claim it helps with.

I believe in it wholeheartedly because I have proven to myself that it works! I tried going dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free, soap-free, you name it. None of it worked like apple cider vinegar. I will say though that reducing or eliminating dairy and gluten from your diet would be a good place to start because both can cause inflammation in the body. Keeping your body healthy from the inside-out is the best way to promote beautiful, clear skin. One of the best ways to do this is to eat an alkaline diet which promotes a balanced pH level in your body. The pH level of your skin can be thrown off from eating unhealthy, acidic foods that can cause breakouts and excess oil to be produced. The acetic acid in ACV, also known as the “mother” aka the cloudy stringy stuff in raw and unfiltered apple cider vinegar, is what works to restore the pH of your skin.


Once you start using apple cider vinegar as a facial toner it will work to balance the pH of your skin and eliminate toxins that can cause acne and breakouts. Because ACV draws out these toxins, you might notice your skin breakout more in the first few days of use. Do not worry! This is just temporary while your body goes through the healing process. After about one to two weeks of using your ACV toner, you should notice your skin improving with less pimples and a smoother texture.

When making your toner, start with less apple cider vinegar and more water to allow your skin to adjust. You might feel a slight burning or tingling sensation at first (my eyes tend to water sometimes when I apply my toner). This is normal because of the acetic acid reacting with your skin. Start out using your toner once a day at night before you go to bed. Sorry husbands, wives, boyfriends, and girlfriends! If you have a S.O., they will need to suck it up and support you in your clear skin journey 🙂 My husband and I have made a joke out of it and now he barely notices the smell.


How to make and use Apple Cider Vinegar Facial Toner:

What you will need:

  • Raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar with “the mother”
  • Filtered or distilled water
  • Cotton balls (preferably organic)
  • Container to store (plastic or glass – BPA free a plus!)


Mix one part apple cider vinegar with three parts filtered water. You want the toner to have a light amber color – a diluted version of the ACV. Mix well and store in an airtight container. Apply with cotton ball to the face and neck area. Soak any problem areas or individual pimples with cotton ball or cotton swab. Use once a day and up to twice a day, as needed. Stop use if irritation occurs. Mild redness or burning may occur as the skin adjusts to the vinegar solution (this should lessen with time).

Final Thoughts

I have what you would call sensitive skin. Anything I put on my skin tends to cause redness or irritation. Even though my skin turns a little pink after applying this toner, it eventually calms down and I start to see the benefits of the ACV right away. My skin feels smoother and my pores look smaller. I only use this toner at night because that was enough to clear up my skin. I went from having big, swollen bumps and small irritated ones all over my neck/jaw area and sometimes t-zone, to problem-free skin that I feel comfortable enough to go outside without makeup on. It has been liberating and relieving to finally have figured out the solution to my lifelong skin issues and know that I will never have to deal with a bad skin day again….unless of course of I stop using ACV toner for too long and eat like I did in high school! Please try this amazing health and beauty ingredient to solve your skin problems and enjoy feeling comfortable in your own skin. I only wish I had known about this sooner!
